Looking up an Actor

To look up an actor and analyse their activity,

  1. Navigate to Actor Lookup on the left navigation panel.
  2. Select a dataset using the drop-down.
  3. The next step is to define the behaviour using which the actors will be analysed. You can further narrow down actors using following search criterias.
    • Add Single Behaviour - allows you to add a single event performed by the actor.
    • Add Group - allows you to define any group of events performed by the actor.
    • Add Sequence - allows you to define a sequence of events performed by the actor.
    • Add Filter - allows you to add filters to narrow down on user behaviour.
  4. Click Run and a table with the list of all the actors who match the criteria will be displayed in the visualization window.Actor Lookup how to
  5. Then, click an entry in the table and the complete user journey of that actor during a selected time period will be displayed in a new window. This page has two sections - one for actor properties and another to list out individual events performed by the actor.
  6. You can also click an event and look at the properties in detail. You can search for particular column names using the search bar and also modify the event query based on the event streams available.

Setting the session identifier in events

The grouping of events for each actor is determined by the session identifier that you configure inside the dataset. To set the session identifier,

  1. Navigate to Data on the left navigation panel and choose Datasets.
  2. Click the dataset that you want to set the session identifier for.
  3. Go to the Semantics tab - this is where you can configure event streams and actor properties.
  4. Choose if your dataset will be an event streamactor, or none.
  5. Under Actor Properties, set the session identifier using the drop-down and click Save.

If you don't want to overpopulate your actor lookup table and want to see only selected properties, you can choose the columns that you want to see in your table. Choose Actor from the drop-down and click Add Preferred Property and add as many properties as you want. You can easily reorder these properties using drag-and-drop. Once done, click Save.
