You can create drafts of your Explorations in Analytics - whenever a new exploration is run, it will be converted to a draft. You can share a draft with anyone using a shareable link without saving it. This means that you do not have to save an exploration to a specific folder every time you create one.
Edits allow you or your team members to create new versions of the explorations that your team members have already created - every time you fork off a version from a previously saved exploration, it will be saved as an Edit in the Drafts and Edits section. Edits inherit the permissions of their parent object.
Drafts and Edits are automatically deleted after 30 days to reduce clutter.
Creating drafts and edits
- Create a new exploration by clicking the + icon in the app navigation panel. As an example, let us create an Event Segmentation Analysis.
- For the measure, choose Count of Events from the drop-down.
- Let's add our first event - Event A. For this, choose the Play Content event in the Product Events dataset and run the exploration. Now, this exploration will be saved as a draft and you can see a label on the top-left that indicates the same.

- Let's add another event - Event B. For this, choose the Share Content event in the Product Events dataset and run the exploration. This will be saved as a new version of the previously created draft. All drafts that are created will be visible in the Drafts and Edits section.

- To convert a draft to a saved exploration, you can open the draft and click Save.

- Whenever you makes changes to a saved exploration, it will be labelled and saved as an Edit in the Drafts and Edits section. Now, let's add a third event - Event C and for this choose the Rate Content event in the Product Events dataset and run the exploration. This will convert the exploration to an Edit. However, the original exploration will remain untouched.
