Beelines are new ad hoc data analyses forking off from a point in the result of an exploration. The context of the forking point is propogated to the new analysis where the user can continue further analysis. The following beelines can be created from a funnel:
Segment by cohort
This beeline creates a new exploration with the same configuration but with the selected cohort as an additional segment. To segment your funnel visualization by cohort,
- Navigate to Explorations and choose a funnel of your choice.
- Right click on a stage and choose Segment by cohort. A list of all the cohorts will be displayed and you can choose from the catalog to create a beeline. Here, we choose to create a beeline for the Viewed Similar Content - L30D cohort.
Segment by attribute
This beeline creates a new Retention explore with the same configuration but additionally segments it by the selected cohort. To segment your funnel visualization by attribute,
- Navigate to Explorations and choose a funnel of your choice.
- Right click on a stage and choose Segment by attribute. A catalog with all the attributes will be displayed for you to choose from to create a beeline. In the example, we create a beeline based on subscription_tier.
Funnel to Visual Explorer
You can create multiple beelines from a funnel and two of them are exploring converted and dropped-off users. These drill-down options in a funnel will give you the total number of users that you have to convert and also allow you to view this data in a visual exploration.
Explore converted users
To explore the number of converted users,
- Navigate to Explorations and choose a funnel of your choice.
- Right click on a stage and choose Explore converted users. A beeline is created with the number of converted entities for that stage. A new beeline is created and this can be opened in the current tab or in a new tab. This way, you can see the number of converted entities in a visual exploration context.
- You can add more columns to the exploration using the column shelf. To drill-down further on this data using other attributes and find out more about your users, you can right-click on a category and click Drill down.
Explore dropped-off users
To explore the number of dropped-off users,
- Navigate to Explorations and choose a funnel of your choice.
- Right click on a stage and choose Explore dropped-off users. A beeline is created with the number of dropped-off entities for that stage. This way, you can see the number of dropped-off entities in a visual exploration context.
- You can add more columns to the exploration using the column shelf. To drill-down further on this data using other attributes and find out more about your users, you can right-click on a category and click Drill down.
Funnel to Paths
Another type of beeline that you can create from a funnel is a path analysis. Similar to the explore options, you have two options for path analysis - Show paths for converted users and Show paths for dropped-off users.
Show paths for converted users
To do a path analysis for converted users,
- Navigate to Explorations and choose a funnel of your choice.
- Right click on a stage and choose Show paths for converted users. A beeline is created showing the paths taken by converted entities for that stage. This beeline can be created in the same tab or in a new tab.
- When you open it in the same tab, in the beeline section, click on the vertical ellipsis on the right end and choose Open in Explorer. This way, you can see the detailed path taken by converted entities in a visual exploration context.
Show paths for dropped-off users
To do a path analysis for dropped-off users,
- Navigate to Explorations and choose a funnel of your choice.
- Right click on a stage and choose Show paths for dropped-off users. A beeline is created showing the paths taken by dropped-off entities for that stage. This beeline can be created in the same tab or in a new tab.
- Now, in the beeline section, click on the vertical ellipsis on the right end and choose Open in Explorer. This way, you can see the detailed path taken by dropped0-off entities in a visual exploration context. You can also right-click any node and see more interactive options.
Create cohort from converted users
Here's how you can create a cohort from converted users,
- Navigate to Explorations and choose a funnel of your choice.
- Right click on a stage and choose Create cohort from converted users. This will create a cohort of converted users for that stage.
- You can add more blocks to the cohort as well.

To create a cohort from dropped-off users,
- Navigate to Explorations and choose a funnel of your choice.
- Right click on a stage and choose Create cohort from dropped-off users. This will create a cohort of dropped-off users for that stage.
