Optimizely Data Platform (ODP) integration with Bronto synchronizes your customer and email activity data with ODP. ODP automatically captures email send, open, and click events for your customers, while also synchronizing ODP insights and observations back to Bronto regularly.
You must enable both the integration to send data to ODP (ODP Bronto Collect app) and the integration to send data back to Bronto (Sync) to take advantage of both functions.
The integration makes the following data available: customer data, marketing consent data, and email activity data from the last 30 days.
Notice how ODP marks consent status:
Bronto Status | ODP Status |
Active | Consent - TRUE |
Onboarding | Consent - TRUE |
Transactional | Consent - FALSE |
Bounce | Unreachable - Hard Bounce |
Unconfirmed | Consent - FALSE |
Unsub | Consent - FALSE |
All data syncs hourly after the initial import.
Requirements
To integrate ODP with your Bronto account, you need to generate an API key.
You need to generate a key to the SOAP APIs not the REST APIs. If you would like to use the same key for both Collect and Sync, the key must have both Read and Write permissions. To use different keys, configure the Collect key with Read permissions and the Sync key with Write permissions.
Configure Bronto send data to ODP
- Go to App Directory > Bronto Collect > Install App.
- Generate an API key in Bronto and insert that key in the API Key field. Authenticate to test the connection.
- Click Start Historical Import. ODP begins to sync data but may not have all data available for several hours.
Configure ODP send data to Bronto
Enable the ODP Bronto Sync app to send customer insights, observations, and attributes that are generated in ODP back to Bronto for campaign targeting.
ODP returns data to Bronto as custom fields. Some Bronto accounts are limited in the number of custom fields that you can create. If syncing data from ODP exceeds these maximums, you may need to delete some custom fields to successfully sync your ODP data.
ODP allows any customer attribute, insight, or observation to sync back to Bronto. When you configure the integration, ODP suggests a default set of attributes, but you may add or delete attributes at any time.
Deleting an attribute from your settings does not remove the field or the data on Bronto. You will need to delete the field yourself.
Data syncs every night for all customers in ODP with an email. ODP does not create new customers in Bronto.
- Go to App Directory > Bronto Sync > Install App.
- Generate an API key in Bronto and insert that key in the API Key field. Authenticate to test the connection.
- Configure your sync. You may add or remove fields to sync, or retain the defaults. Click Fields for Sync to see a list of options. Once you have identified the fields that you want to sync, click Save.
- Make sure you save even if you do not make changes to the defaults. You can start an immediate sync or wait to sync overnight.
- Come back to this page at any time to make changes to this configuration.
