Period-over-Period Comparison in Explorations

Period-over-period comparison in Funnel​

Analytics allows users to perform period-over-period comparison on funnel analysis. With this feature, users can compare the results of the analysis in the current time period with any previous time period - previous day, week, month, year, etc. and understand how metrics have changed over time.

In Funnel analysis, the show over time feature is available for the following measures:

  1. % converted between specific stages
  2. Time between specific stages
  3. Converted to specific stage

Enabling period-over-period comparison​

Here's how you can configure this feature for your exploration.

  1. Create a new funnel analysis.
  2. Choose a measure and a dataset.
  3. Click the over time drop-down and choose Over time to see results over a period of time. Now, the configuration will be available in the visualization module.
  4. Configure the rest of your funnel and run the exploration.
  5. Now, click on the Compare to drop-down and choose an option - Previous year, Previous month, Previous week, Previous day, or Custom.
  6. A dotted line appears on the graph showing the results of the same analysis during the previous time period chosen.
  7. You can view your results either in terms of numeric change or percentage change by clicking on the respective buttons.

Analytics allows users to perform period-over-period comparison on event segmentation analysis. With this feature, users can compare the results of the analysis in the current time period with any previous time period - previous day, week, month, year, etc. and understand how metrics have changed over time. In Event Segmentation analysis, the over time feature is available for all the measures.

Enabling period-over-period comparison​

To configure this feature for your exploration,

  1. Create a new event segmentation analysis.
  2. Choose a measure and a dataset.

  2. Choose a measure and a dataset.
  3. Configure the rest of your retention analysis and run the exploration.
  4. The period-over-period configuration will be available in the visualization module. Click the Compare to drop-down and choose an option - Previous year, Previous month, Previous week, Previous day, or Custom.
  5. A dotted line appears on the graph showing the results of the same analysis during the previous time period chosen.
