Optimizely-managed agents are, pre-built tools that enhance your experience and streamline common tasks in Optimizely, such as content creation, experimentation, and analytics. Optimizely automatically installs and keeps these agents up to date. Optimizely integrates these agents directly into the product, making your workflows more efficient and impactful.
Optimizely-managed agents have the following characteristics:
- Auto-installed – Optimizely automatically makes them available in your Optimizely instance, requiring no manual configuration.
- Auto-updated – Optimizely manages all updates so these agents are up to date.
- Managed by Optimizely – Optimizely handles the underlying logic, tools, and configurations so you can focus on using them effectively.
- Natively integrated – Optimizely designs them to enhance specific product workflows and provide immediate value and efficiency.
Optimizely consistently updates Optimizely-managed agents. To maintain their integrity, Optimizely locks certain fields that you cannot directly edit. To tailor an Optimizely-managed agent to your specific requirements, create a copy. Fully customize the copied agent, including any field, to suit your needs. Creating a copy gives you full control over its configuration. Your customizations remain stable and unaffected by future automatic updates to the original agent.
In the Agent Directory, each Optimizely-managed agents display a callout in their details that identifies them.
When to build a custom agent instead
Optimizely-managed agents cover many common use cases. If your needs are highly specialized or require unique integrations that the prebuilt options do not address, build a custom agent from scratch. See Create a specialized agent.
Optimizely-managed agents and workflows
When you add an Optimizely-managed agent to a workflow agent, a prompt asks whether you want to create a copy. This ensures automatic updates to the original Optimizely-managed agent do not unexpectedly alter your critical business processes in workflows. Accepting this prompt creates an editable copy of the agent for your workflow. A workflow agent is an agent configured as part of a multi-step automated process.
