Work with autocomplete

  • Updated

When searching for products on a website, entering a minimum of three characters into the search field triggers the autocomplete functionality in Optimizely Configured Commerce. As more characters are entered, Commerce Search refines the results to more accurately match the query. Autocomplete is active by default.

The content displayed in the autocomplete preview consists of the following components:

  1. Categories – If a category name contains text that matches the search query, it displays in the Autocomplete window.
  2. Content – Search crawls the actual content of pages for any text that matches the search query, such as blogs or white papers.
  3. Product Details
    • Product Image – Located in Catalog > Products > click the Edit button for a product > Content > Small Image Path.
If you do not have a product image, the global default image displays in place of the product image.
    • Product Title – Located in Catalog > Products > click the Edit button for a product > Details.
    • Product Number – Located in the Admin Console > Catalog > Products > click the Edit button for a product > Details tab.
    • Manufacturer Number – Located in Catalog > Products > click the Edit button for a product > Details.

Autocomplete also indexes news summary and news content pages.
