Watch agents

  • Updated

Watch an agent in Optimizely Opal to receive notifications when the agent changes. Watching keeps you informed about modifications, status changes, workflow failures, and guardrail alerts without checking the agent manually.

Anyone with View Agents permission can watch an agent. Opal subscribes you automatically when you create or import an agent.

Notifications watchers receive

Watchers receive notifications for the following events:

  • Agent modified – Another teammate edits an agent you watch.
  • Agent activated – Another teammate activates an agent you watch.
  • Agent deactivated – Another teammate deactivates an agent you watch.
  • Agent deleted – Another teammate deletes an agent you watch.
  • Automated agent failed – A scheduled, webhook, or email-triggered execution fails on an agent you watch.
  • Guardrail warning – A run deviates moderately from the agent's learned baseline.
  • Guardrail failed – A run deviates significantly from the agent's learned baseline.

Watchers receive in-app notifications by default. Enable email delivery for any type in Settings > Notifications. See Notification settings.

Automatic subscriptions

Opal subscribes you to watch an agent automatically when you create or import the agent. Use Stop watching in the agent header to remove yourself at any time.

Self-suppression

Opal does not send you notifications about your own actions. When you change an agent you watch, other watchers receive the notification but you do not.

Constraints

Keep the following constraints in mind when watching agents:

  • Watching is per-agent. You cannot watch all agents at once or watch by category.
  • You receive notifications for every event that applies to watchers. You cannot filter to specific events.
  • Watchers must be individual users. You cannot add teams as watchers.
