Manage input guardrails

  • Updated

Manage your input guardrails from the Input Guardrails page after you create them in Optimizely Opal. Update a guardrail to change its rule, name, or block message, or delete a guardrail your team no longer needs. To restore an earlier version, see Restore a previous guardrail version.

Edit a guardrail

Editing a guardrail creates a new version, so you can change a rule without losing previous configurations. To edit a guardrail, complete the following step in Opal:

  1. Go to Agents > Input Guardrails.
  2. Click the input guardrail you want to edit.
  3. Update the guardrail details.
  4. Click Save changes.

Each edit creates a new untrained draft version. When you change the rule, click Train to retrain the guardrail for the change to take effect. Sensitivity changes are the exception, they apply immediately without retraining.

Delete a guardrail

Delete a guardrail your team no longer needs. Deleting a guardrail removes it and all of its versions. To delete a guardrail, complete the following steps:

  1. Go to Agents > Input Guardrails.
  2. Click Delete for the guardrail you want to remove.

  3. Click Delete on the confirmation page.

Deleting a guardrail is permanent and removes all of its versions. You cannot restore a deleted guardrail from version history. When an instance or a specialized agent still references the deleted guardrail, Opal no longer screens that input, and the requests pass through unscreened. Assign a different guardrail to keep enforcement in place.
