Create properties from product data sheets

You can use a master product file to generate properties. This can save you time because you no longer need to manually make your data conform to match the import format or create a custom extract transform load (ETL) tool to evaluate product data and generate the files. This method can also be useful when adding large sets of products, such as growing through acquisition or adding product lines.

As PIM evaluates the data and displays warnings if appropriate. You can then review the generated files, make necessary tweaks, and import the properties and templates.

1. Go to Data Setup > Properties.
2. Click Generate Import File.
3. Click Choose File.
   
   
4. Select Properties.
5. Click Next.
   
6. Select which columns to use for the properties or template. PIM evaluates the data for each column and determines which control type each property should use. For example, if all products have values of yes/no, then the PIM uses a toggle control type. If all products have a value with a date format, the PIM uses a date picker control type.
   
   
7. Click Next.
8. Review the information and click Download.
   
   
9. After the file is generated, review any warnings and import the file using the property import process to create the properties.
