Optimizely Analytics lets you create parameters for all explorations and model artifacts.
To demonstrate the procedure, consider creating parameters within a cohort.
The procedure to create parameters is the same for all artifacts and explorations.
Create a parameter within model artifacts
- Click + > Cohort on the navigation panel.
- Choose a cohort template, such as the Behavioral template.
- Use the drop-down list to select a dataset for the Cohort Of field. This example uses the Users dataset.
- Configure the Behavioral Cohort block to say Users who performed a particular set of product interactions: Play Content, Pause Content, Rate Content, and Share Content.
- Configure the parameters. To create a parameter, click the pull-out drawer and click +. The Creating Parameter window displays, and you can configure your parameters. For the example, create a parameter based on language. Give the parameter a name, choose the column lang from the drop-down list, select the parameter type (Multi Select), and set the default value to All.
- Click Create Parameter.
- Go back to the cohort definition and add a filter to the cohort definition. Select a value from the drop-down list (lang) and choose the parameter you created from the Parameters tab.
- Click Run. The Parameters icon in the Visualization window lets you filter your results based on the configured parameter.
- (Optional) Give your cohort a name and description. Save the cohort.
Use parameters inside Explorations
You can use your new parameter inside an exploration with a funnel.
- Go to Explorations on the navigation panel and choose Funnel.
- Configure your funnel and add the stages.
- Go to Segment by Cohort and click +. Choose the cohort for which you configured parameters.
- Run the exploration. The Parameters icon in the Visualization window lets you filter your results based on the configured parameter.
- (Optional) Add new parameters within explorations using the pull-out drawer and use them inside the Filters section.
