Create Drafts and Edits

  • Updated

When you run a new exploration in Analytics, it is automatically saved as a draft. Drafts do not need to be saved to a specific folder and can be shared with anyone using a shareable link. This makes it easy to collaborate without organizing or saving the exploration first.

Edits let you create new versions of the explorations your team members have already created. Every time you fork off a version from a previously saved exploration, it is saved as an Edit in the Drafts and Edits section. Edits inherit the permissions of their parent object.

Drafts and edits are automatically deleted after 30 days to reduce clutter.

Create drafts and edits

  1. Click + in the app navigation panel to create a new exploration. The following steps create an event segmentation analysis as an example.
  2. Choose the Count of Events measure from the drop-down list.
  3. Add the first event and name it Event A. Choose the Play Content event in the Product Events dataset and run the exploration. Now, this exploration is saved as a draft, and you can see a label that indicates the same.

  1. Add another event and name it Event B. Choose the Share Content event in the Product Events dataset and run the exploration. This is saved as a new version of the previously created draft. All drafts that are created are visible in the Drafts and Edits section.

Whenever you make changes to a saved exploration, it is labelled and saved as an Edit in the Drafts and Edits section.

  1. Add a third event and name it Event C. Choose the Rate Content event in the Product Events dataset and run the exploration. This converts the exploration to an Edit. However, the original exploration remains untouched.
