Promotion result type descriptions

  • Updated

Optimizely Configured Commerce includes several promotion results that define what happens when a promotion's rules are met. These results range from adding free products to applying various discounts across orders, shipping, categories, or specific product lines.

Add free product

Adds a specified free product to customer order. Often used for buy-one-get-one or gift-with-purchase promotions

Amount Used to set the quantity of free product that will be added to the order

Product Defines the free product that will be added to the order

Buy one get one

Adds one unit of a free product for each qualifying unit the customer purchases. When a customer buys two qualifying items, they receive two free items; three qualifying items earn three free items, and so on.

Use this result type when each qualifying purchase should independently earn a free item. To add a single free item to the order regardless of quantity, use Add Free Product instead.

Qualifying product – The product the customer must purchase to earn the free item. Only cart lines containing this product count toward the qualifying quantity.

Qty Required – The number of units of the qualifying product required to earn one free item. For a true "buy one, get one free" ratio, set this to 1.

Product – The free product added to the order at no charge. The quantity of free items matches the number of qualifying units in the cart.

(Optional) Max Free – The maximum number of free items the promotion can award in a single order. Leave blank to award one free item for every qualifying unit with no cap.
