Create a personal instruction

Personal instructions let you define how Opal behaves specifically for you. Use them to capture your preferences, working style, and custom behaviors so Opal consistently matches how you work. This article covers how to create a personal instruction.

Personal instructions apply only to you.

Access instructions

To access instructions in Opal, complete the following steps:

  1. Log in to Optimizely.
  2. Select your organization.
  3. Click Opal.

    Select Opal.
  4. Click Instructions.

 Create a personal instruction

To add a personal instruction that applies only to your Opal interactions, complete the steps in the Access instructions section and then complete the following:

  1. Select the Personal tab.
  2. Click Add Instruction

  3. Enter a Name for your instruction.
  4. (Optional) Toggle Active on or off.
    • Toggle Active on to let Opal use your instruction.
    • Toggle Active off if you do not want Opal to use your instruction. Use this setting while you develop the instruction.
  5. Enter a Core Instruction, which is information and context for Opal to tailor its output. Include details such as guidelines, response formats, and constraints. You can double-click text to add styling. See Core instruction in the Instructions overview documentation.
  6. (Optional) Click Add Product for Where to use. If you do not add products, the instruction is available for all products.
    1. Select an Optimizely product from the Select Product drop-down list.
    2. Select an instance from the Select Instance drop-down list.
    3. Click + to add another product and instance.
    4. Click Delete to remove the product and instance.
  7. Enter When to use. The When to use tells Opal when this instruction should apply. See When to use in the Instructions overview documentation.
  8. Click Save.
