Skill Builder is a design-time AI assistant in Optimizely Opal that helps you create reliable skills. Use Skill Builder to catch reliability issues at the source, before a skill influences an agent's behavior.
Skill Builder analyzes your in-progress work and provides guidance as you build. The assistant provides the following types of guidance:
- Identifies ambiguous instructions in skill prompts.
- Validates the format of your configuration.
- Suggests missing tools.
- Generates evaluation samples for testing.
- Flags potential failure modes before you save.
Skill Builder is part of the Agent Reliability Engagement (ARE) framework. The assistant refines its guidance over time as Opal collects data from execution guardrails, autonomous corrections, and evaluation scores.
When to use Skill Builder
Use Skill Builder when you author or update an organization skill or personal skill. The assistant works best at design time (before a skill becomes active) to prevent the most common reliability issues:
- Vague or incomplete skills.
- Missing tool dependencies.
- Skipped evaluation samples.
