Component Trackers in Optimizely Web Experimentation allow you to view which experiment assets (Pages, Events, Extensions, and Audiences) are used in active and paused experiments, giving you an overview of your data in Optimizely Web Experimentation.
Available component trackers
The following experiment assets have component trackers:
- Pages (go to Implementation > Pages)
- Events (go to Implementation > Events)
- Extensions (go to Implementation > Extensions)
- Audiences (go to Audiences > Saved)
You can use these four component trackers to verify that your experiments use the correct pages, events, extensions, and audiences and that those assets are configured correctly. Additionally, you can identify unused experiment assets to clean up and archive.
For example: you have two similar extensions, called A and B. Using the component tracker, you notice that the majority of your experiments use extension A but not extension B. You can now migrate extension B to extension A to prevent using the wrong extension in an experiment. The same principle applies across all four component trackers.
Archived experiments and components
Archived experiments are not shown in the Experiments column or on the Experiment Usage page. The same goes for archived components (Pages, Events, Extensions, Audiences); component trackers do not work for components that are archived.
View experiment usage
While viewing the component trackers, you can see more details on the experiments that are using each component:
- Click the More Details icon in the row of the component.
- Click View Experiment Usage.
The Experiment Usage page shows all the experiments that are using that specific component. From there, you can go directly to any of the experiments and make edits as desired.
