Use custom reports

Create and view custom reports in Optimizely Data Platform (ODP) Lite to gain insights on customer behavior.

Report elements

All custom reports (created by going to Company > Reports > New Report) have the report elements described below.

Filter options


1. Expression Filter

An event must match the expression to be included in the report.

2. Date Range

The date range refines the results of the report's expression further. 

Use the link icon to compare two different date ranges. This comparison is reflected in the graph but does not affect the table. The table only reflects values from the primary date range.


3. Simple Filter  

The simple filter allows you to select a field and specify a value. This filter applies to all events included in the report's expression.

Time-series graph


Select Hour, Day, Week, or Month to determine how the date range displays on the x-axis of the time-series graph.

Report table


The report table displays below the time-series graph. This is where the name of the report displays along with the results of the filter options. Click Column(s) to select the fields for which you want to view the report results.

You can also use a rocket column, which allows you to craft a powerful expression sentence to further segment your results. The default column of events and data displays when another field is selected.

Create a report

To create a report:

  1. Go to Company > Reports.
  2. Click New Report.
  3. Select your desired filter options and click Apply.
  4. Click Columns and select the fields for your report. Click Apply to save your column selections.
  5. Click Save > Save as New Report.
  6. Enter the Name and select the Visibility from the following options:
    • Account – Everyone in your account
    • Scope – Subset of people in your account
    • Personal – Only for you
  7. Click Save.

Edit a report

To edit an existing custom report:

  1. Go to Company > Reports.
  2. Click the name of the custom report you want to edit. 
  3. Make the desired changes and click Save.

To edit an existing custom report while preserving the original:

  1. Go to Company > Reports.
  2. Click the name of the custom report you want to edit.
  3. Click the Save dropdown list and select Save as New Report.
  4. Enter a new Name for the copy and select the Visibility.
  5. Click Save.

You are now viewing the clone and can make changes without affecting the original.

Share a report

You can export the information within a report for external review. You can also use the same report in ODP Lite accounts by copying the report's structure.

Export a report

  1. Go to Company > Reports.
  2. Click the name of the custom report you want to export.
  3. Click the export icon (at the bottom of the page).mceclip3.png
  4. Complete the required fields in the Export Report window that displays.
  5. Click Export.

Copy report to another account 

  1. Go to Company > Reports.
  2. In the row of the report you want to copy, click the Copy Report icon.mceclip4.png
  3. Select the Account you want to share with and the Scope you want to have access to the report.
  4. Click Copy.
