Connect your BigQuery warehouse to Optimizely Analytics

Connecting your BigQuery warehouse to Optimizely Analytics lets you seamlessly access and analyze vast amounts of data stored in BigQuery, letting you derive actionable insights and make data-driven decisions. 

  1. Click Data > Connections > +New Connection > BigQuery.
  2. Configure the following fields: 
    • Project ID – The ID of the project you want to connect. Use the same project in which the service account and the role were created. You can also find this information in the BigQuery JSON file. Open the file and copy the value in the project_id field.
    • Service Account Email – The service account's email address. You can also find this information in the BigQuery JSON file downloaded in the previous step. Open the file and copy the value in the client_email field.
    • Service Account Key JSON – The JSON file containing the credentials and details for the service account. Copy all the content of the BigQuery JSON file and paste it into the field provided.
  3. Click refresh to test the connection's configuration. If your configuration is successful, the icon turns green.
  4. Click + under Parameters in the Advanced options section to add non-essential or custom properties as key-value pairs beyond the main configuration parameters. Here, you can define AdditionalProjectID as a comma-separated list of project IDs (for example, project2, project3, etc.) to access and navigate metadata from other projects within the application, beyond your primary project.
  5. Click Save.

The following examples show the required fields to create a BigQuery connection in Analytics:

  • Project ID – Paste the value corresponding to the Project ID field in your JSON file.
    • Example – stately-lodge-3613456
  • Service Account Email – Paste the email address in your JSON file from the Service Account Email field.
    • Example – netspring-byow@stately-lodge-3613456.iam.gserviceaccount.com

  • Service Account Key JSON – Paste the content from the Private Key field into your JSON file. For example:
