Create beelines from a funnel analysis

  • Updated

Beelines are ad hoc data analyses that fork from a point in the result of an exploration. The system propagates the context of the forking point to the new analysis, where you can continue further analysis. When you create a beeline (from the original or a beeline tile), you can see it following the original exploration, and the page scrolls automatically.

Segment by cohort

Use this when you want to know whether conversion rates differ between user groups. For example, whether free-tier users drop off at a higher rate than enterprise users.

  1. Open a funnel, right-click a stage, and click Segment by cohort to open a drop-down list of cohorts.

  2. Select a cohort from the catalog to create a beeline.

Segment by attribute

Use this when you want to understand whether conversion varies by a property – for example, by device type, region, or plan tier.

  1. Open a funnel, right-click a stage, and click Segment by attribute to open a drop-down list of properties.

  2. Select a property from the catalog to create a beeline.

Explore converted users

Use this when you want to investigate what converted users have in common or drill into their behavior after conversion.

  1. Open a funnel, right-click a stage, and click Explore converted users to create a beeline with the count of users who converted at that stage.

  2. Right-click the result and click Drill down to analyze the data using other attributes.

Explore dropped-off users

Use this when you want to understand what dropped-off users have in common or what they did after leaving the funnel.

  1. Open a funnel, right-click a stage, and click Explore dropped-off users to create a beeline with the count of users who dropped off at that stage.

  2. Right-click the result and click Drill down to analyze the data using other attributes.

Show paths for converted users

Use this when you want to see the sequence of events that converted users took before or after reaching a stage.

  1. Open a funnel, right-click a stage, and click Show paths for converted users.

  2. Click More (⋮) > Open as new exploration to see the detailed path of converted users.

Show paths for dropped-off users

Use this when you want to understand where users went after dropping off at a stage – for example, whether they navigated to a help page or exited the product entirely.

  1. Open a funnel, right-click a stage, and click Show paths for dropped-off users.

  2. Click More (⋮) > Open as new exploration to see the detailed path of dropped-off users. Right-click any node for additional beeline options.

Create cohort from converted users

Use this when you want to save converted users as a reusable cohort – for example, to target them in a follow-up analysis or experiment.

  1. Open a funnel, right-click a stage, and click Create cohort from converted users.
  2. (Optional) Add more blocks to the cohort to refine it further.

Create cohort from dropped-off users

Use this when you want to save dropped-off users as a reusable cohort – for example, to analyze their behavior or re-engage them.

  1. Open a funnel, right-click a stage, and click Create cohort from dropped-off users.
  2. (Optional) Add more blocks to the cohort to refine it further.

Lookup converted users

Use this when you want to examine individual journeys within the converted group – for example, to understand the specific path a high-value user took through the funnel.

  1. Open a funnel, right-click a stage, and click Lookup converted users. The results show the list of converted users for that stage.
  2. Click the name of the user whose journey you want to analyze.

Lookup dropped-off users

Use this when you want to examine individual journeys within the dropped-off group – for example, to identify where a specific user encountered friction.

  1. Open a funnel, right-click a stage, and click Lookup dropped-off users. The results show the list of dropped-off users for that stage.
  2. Click the name of the user whose journey you want to analyze.

Find conversion drivers

Find conversion drivers measures which behaviors most increase the likelihood of converting to the selected stage. It is available only when the funnel measures the number of users converted to each stage. The selected stage must not be the first, so the funnel needs at least two stages.

  1. Open a funnel exploration.
  2. Right-click a stage and select Find conversion drivers.
  3. Click any behavior to drill into the users who performed it.

The analysis opens preconfigured with the following:

  • Outcome – The selected stage's event.
  • Included actors – Users who completed the first stage.
  • Candidate driver behaviors – The funnel's intervening stages and the most popular events in the same dataset.

The results reflect the time window set on the parent funnel analysis. The results show each behavior's impact on conversion and its prevalence among the included actors. They also show the total number of included actors.
