The Engage Dashboard in Optimizely Content Recommendations displays the performance of web or email deliveries. Deliveries include retargeting, blocks on a web page, and personalized emails that contain relevant content based on previous interactions and interests.
The Engage Dashboard lets you perform the following actions:
- Conduct A/B testing – Compare the click-through rate (CTR) of personalized and unpersonalized recommendations for each widget.
- Measure delivery performance – Link a delivery to a goal conversion to view its performance. See Overview of Content Recommendations for information on deliveries and goals.
View data in the dashboard
You can view the following data in the Engage Dashboard:
- Filter – See Use dashboard filters.

Line chart – View the line chart of the personalized and unpersonalized CTRs made during a specific time period. The X-axis displays the time range of the percentage of clicks, while the Y-axis displays the percentage of personalized and unpersonalized clicks in 0.5% increments. Hovering your cursor anywhere on the plot line will display the value of each plot.
- Unpersonalized CTR – Displays the Unpersonalized CTR. Unpersonalized CTR is the baseline performance without personalization. For example, if you show the same product banner to all website visitors, the percentage of clicks that banner receives is an unpersonalized CTR, compared to a personalized CTR, where Content Recommendations tailors content to the users.
- Personalized CTR – Displays the Personalized CTR. The personalized CTR, for example, an AI-driven recommendation, measures if it outperforms the baseline or the unpersonalized CTR. This gives you information about whether personalization or retargeting in Content Recommendations achieves its intended performance.

Configure filters – Configure dashboard filters to track unpersonalized and personalized recommendations data over a specific period of time. You can select between the following filters to manipulate the data in the line chart and the tables:
- All Recommendations – Filter the entire engage dashboard by selecting a filter from the drop-down list. The data inside the performance tables also changes when you set a filter to reflect the filter's values.
- Show Recommendations Made Between...(time period) – Choose a time period for which you want to see the recommendations data. Expand the drop-down list and select a specific time period or set a custom time period using the date picker. Click Apply.

Compare – Click Compare to compare the CTR percentage between the previous period and the current one.
- The dotted line in the graph displays Unpersonalized CTR in Previous Period and Personalized CTR in Previous Period . You can follow it to see the difference between personalized and unpersonalized recommendations made over your chosen period. Hover your cursor over a specific date to see comparison details.
- Share This View – Copy the link to the clipboard and send it to share your view. Anyone with the link can access views that you share. See Configure Content Recommendations settings.
Performance tables
You can view the following performance tables in the Engage Dashboard:
Engage performance
The Engage Performance table displays each content item's CTR and compares the unpersonalized CTR to the personalized CTR. You can hover your cursor over a content item to filter the item, which changes the dashboard view and lets you focus on your relevant topic.
Conversion performance
The Conversion Performance table displays the conversion rate for each goal. You can select the goal from the All Goals drop-down list, which compares unpersonalized conversions to personalized ones.
