Putting a different twist on the add to basket action, this widget can be displayed when a product is added to the basket in the fashion of a top page drop down confirmation or in a lightbox.
This gives the ability to display an alternatives recommendation strategy when viewing the product details page, and then cross-sells recommendations strategy once the product is chosen.
A powerful addition when a product qualifies for both strategies.
The light box or drop down section should give the user the option to continue shopping or go to the checkout.
Add to bag/Buy buttons with Variant selectors can be added to the recommendations in the widget to ensure the user remains in the purchasing funnel.
