The Optimizely Configured Commerce team will begin several projects in January focused on automating and accelerating the build, test, and release process. This will create weeks of additional developer time each year resulting in more features and faster development periods. In addition, by automating more of the release process, we anticipate a decrease in bugs and hot fixes in 2023.
To support this effort, Optimizely has decided to cancel the January 2023 monthly release. This will assist the engineering teams in two ways:
- They will have more time to complete these improvement projects before release. If Configured Commerce released in January, any project impacting releases would need to be complete by January’s code lock date, which is just a few weeks away.
- They can invest the time and effort typically devoted to a monthly release into these projects.
This means there will be no further Configured Commerce product updates or releases until February 16, 2023, and this release will include new features as well as tech improvements. Note that work will continue on upcoming features, including a new payments service, a new version of VMI for web, the mobile release of VMI, an ElasticSearch upgrade, and tools to help with Classic to Spire migration.
