An application is a logical grouping of objects for a specific business use case. It serves as an organizational tool to manage different use cases across teams or initiatives. Applications do not share any state with each other. You can have multiple applications within an organization.
Create an application
- Click the app switcher and then click + to create an application within that specific organization.
- Enter a Name for the application.
- (Optional) Enter a Description and select a Color.
- Click Save.
When you create an application, it is shared with the All Users group by default, granting all users full access to the app. This means the app's root folder is also shared with the group, with the same permission.
Edit an application
- Click the app switcher.
- Click More (⋮) > Edit for the application you want to edit.
- Edit the Name, Description, and Color.
- Click Save.
To edit connections in an application:
- Click Catalog.
- Select the connection.
- (Optional) Change the connection type and edit the corresponding details.
- Click Save.
Share an application
When you share an application with Can view, Can edit, Full access, or No access permissions with a specific user or group, the application's root folder is also shared with the same permission. For example, if you share an application with the All Users group with Full Access permission, the root folder of the app will also have the same Full Access permission for the group.
To share an application:
- Click the app switcher.
- Click More (⋮) > Share.
- Select the users with whom you want to share the application, and select their Access type.
- Click Invite.
Access an application
All applications that you have access to are visible in the list of applications under the organization.
If you do not have access to any applications, the following message displays. Contact your administrator to get access to existing applications.
