A brand is a reusable, structured record of a brand in Optimizely Opal. It holds the brand's assets, colors, typefaces, and the rules for using them. When you publish a brand, Opal turns it into a skill. That skill keeps generated content on-brand across areas such as image generation while using the Image editor.
You create and manage brands on Context > Brand.
What a brand is
A brand is the single source of truth for your brand identity in Opal. Opal draws on the brand wherever it needs brand context, such as image generation. Each area reads the same brand instead of keeping its own copy.
A brand pack is not a brand guidelines PDF or a design system. It is the structured data that Opal uses to keep output on-brand.
How a brand works
A brand moves through four stages:
- You create a brand with Opal or from scratch. See Create a brand.
- You manage its resources and guidance. See Manage a brand.
- You publish the brand so Opal can use it.
- You use the brand when you generate content. See Publish and use a brand pack.
Brand statuses
A brand has one of the following statuses:
- Draft – In progress and not yet published. Opal does not use a draft brand.
- Published – Published and available for Opal to use.
- Default – The brand Opal uses when no other brand is specified. One brand is the default at a time.
Opal uses the default brand unless you specify a different brand when you prompt Opal in an agent.
Work with multiple brands
An organization can hold more than one brand. Create a brand for each identity you manage, and set one as the default. When you generate content, Opal uses the default brand unless you select a different one.
