If you were advised to install the latest service pack (SP) as part of the support process, follow the steps and precautions in the Solution.
If a service pack was released for your CMS version, you should take the following precautions.
- Create a backup of your database - this lets you preserve the integrity of your database if an issue arises during the upgrade process.
Creating database backups - Back up your site root folder by creating a copy of it.
- Apply the service pack to each CMS server and upgrade each site that is part of an eSync relationship. It is imperative that all servers and sites are on the same version or it could negatively impact your database integrity.
- If you are using Ektron Multisite, upgrade all sites and servers in an Ektron Multisite environment .

- Run the .exe by right clicking on it and selecting Run as administrator .
The installer performs a brief prerequisite check on your server. - Select Install when prompted.
- After the base product installs, follow along with the upgrade process as needed for each of your sites that you also want to upgrade.
- When you are prompted for the Host value, pick the server name. If this is not correct for your environment or you are unsure, ask your system administrator or Web master for assistance. Let the update run until completion.
If you receive an error that states: There is already an object named ( object name ) in the database, look at the following KB article: Error when applying a CU or Service Pack
After all servers and all sites have been upgraded, evaluate functionality.
You also should apply the latest Cumulative Update; see the following the KB article: How to install cumulative updates
