After performing an upgrade/installation of the CMS, you're seeing the following error: "DLL function call crashed: ISRT._RegQueryKeyValue"
Typically the error appears during the installation process during the "site files" portion.
This message is actually a Windows error, not an Ektron one.
Typically, it relates to an issue with the registry if there is a missing or invalid path in the Windows registry.
Here are a number of things which we've confirmed to have previously resolved cases dealing with this issue:
1. Reboot the machine and then try the installation/upgrade again.
2. This issue may also be caused by an invalid registry key. Follow the steps below to remove this key:
a. Click your Windows Start button, then either click Run or go to the Search box on the Start menu, and type regedit. The registry editor will open.
b. Back up your Windows registry.
c. On the left, locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key and click the + sign to expand it. Drill down to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager.
d. In the right-hand pane, right-click on the PendingFileRenameOperations key and select Delete.
e. Close the Windows registry and attempt the installation process again.
3. Try installing through a "clean boot" state. Here's Microsoft's explanation on how to do this:
4. Completely delete the install file you're using, head over to the downloads section of portal.ektron.com and grab the file again. We've seen this resolve this error in the past by using a new/fresh install file.
