UI updates
Optimizely has released quality-of-life improvements to the user interface, making it a more intuitive experience. These changes do not impact performance.
Redesigned the left navigation menu
- Added Collapse and Expand buttons for feature flag instances.
- Adjusted navigation alignment and changed the instance avatar size.
- Updated instance names to display in a single line and be truncated if too long. The logo and instance name also include truncated long names, with the full name shown in a tooltip. Previously instance names were in the dashboard section.

Video streaming
You can now set videos to play within the browser when accessed through the public link, rather than auto-downloading to the user's device. Go to your avatar > Asset Management. See Library overview for information.
Rich-text comments
You now have rich-text options for comments, such as bold, italics, bullet points, and text color. See Edit content, Manage campaigns, Manage tasks, and Events for examples and information.
Updates to settings for omnichannel content
Optimizely has updated the omnichannel content editing experience, making it easier to create and manage content types and components:
- Added a toggle for the visibility of active/inactive items
- Improved the display with pagination and search.
- Split content models into two pages to distinguish the settings and the fields.
- Added the ability to create related components directly from the content type.
See Edit content with omnichannel authoring for information.
July
Bulk edit
In the List view, if you want to apply the same changes to multiple items, you can select them and click Edit. The changes you make apply to the selected items. You can add or edit Fields and change the Owner and the Parent Campaign. See List view planning for information.
Workflows revamp
Instead of displaying on one long page, the fields for customizing a workflow are arranged thematically and separated by tabs to access sections. Go to your avatar > Workflows. See Manage workflows for information.
Task templates
To create tasks that you repeat regularly, use task templates. You can save the commonly used data in these templates so that you do not have to enter them every time you create a task. You can customize the task normally, after creating it from a template. See Task templates for information.
Recycle bin for library assets
You can restore the library assets you delete. Go to your avatar > Recycle Bin. See Library overview for information.
Omnichannel editor updates
You can do the following in the omnichannel editor:
- Edit components that you import from Library and customize the messaging for different audiences.
- Save the components you create from scratch in the library and reuse them in future tasks.
- Collaborate with multiple teammates on the same omnichannel asset simultaneously.
- Store copies of omnichannel assets in various file formats (for example, a pdf).
See Edit content with omnichannel authoring for information.
Use fuzzy search to find assets in Library
Fuzzy search looks for text that matches a term closely. Even if you do not know the exact name of the piece of content that you are looking for, you can still find what you want by searching for a variation of the asset name. For example, searching for celebrate also returns results for celebration. See Library overview.
June
Sort by various fields in the list view
In addition to the fields with which you could sort content in Plan > List, you can now sort by the Status field and your custom fields. You can also sort the content with multiple fields simultaneously by pressing Shift and clicking the fields you want to sort by. See List view planning for more information.
Saved views are now in Library
Saved views let you search for and find the items you regularly need. Save your frequently used filter combinations and searches in the library by giving it a name. You can share this saved view among your team members, edit it and duplicate it. See Library overview for more information.
Upgraded AI image generation
DALL-E is the new AI model that generates images in CMP. You can use shorter prompts to get higher-quality image outputs. With each generation, you can pick from four sample images or click Re-generate. See Generate AI images to learn more.
April
Set asset expiry date from a task
You can set the Asset Expiry Date when you upload an asset to a task. When you complete a task or step, it pushes the asset to the library and retains the expiry date that you set in the task. See Expire assets.
View library assets in Category view
You can select Category view to display assets in library. The Category view separates assets into Folders and categories such as Images, Videos, Articles, Documents, and Files. You can select a folder to access the assets inside. See Library overview.
Integrate your AI
In addition to Opal, which is the Optimizely AI assistant powered by open AI, you can integrate an AI model with Content Marketing Platform (CMP). See Integrate your AI.
Edit campaign templates
After you save a campaign as a template, you can make changes to the campaign template and make a copy of it. See Manage campaign templates.
Add fields to a workflow step
You can add fields to individual steps in a workflow.
March
Remote fields
You can develop your applications and include them within the omnichannel editor. For example, implement a color picker field or load a list of fields from another platform, such as their CRM. See Remote fields and extensions in Edit content with omnichannel authoring.
Delete users
You can remove a user, but the activities and comments remain on the platform with the label (deleted) next to their name, such as "Jane Smith (deleted)."
Additionally, deleted users are accessible as a filter option in the Plan module's filter panel, making locating activities assigned to or owned by deleted users easy.
Recycle bin
Admins can restore deleted tasks or task content, such as an article, image, raw file, URL, or Microsoft asset, from the recycle bin. See Restore deleted tasks and task content from the recycle bin in Manage tasks.
WordPress integration revamp
The revamped WordPress integration uses APIs for enhanced security and performance and supports standard and custom post types.
UX delights
- Opal – You can access Optimizely's ChatGPT AI assistant powered by Open AI through the top navigation menu.
- Field inheritance – You can control if the content uploaded to a task inherits the same fields as the task it is a part of with the Inherit field changes from the task checkbox. See Field inheritance in Content workspace.
- Saved view permissions – You can select Can Edit and Can View permissions when you share saved views with users, teams, or organizations. See Saved filter views.
February
Asset fields
Create custom asset fields in the library and tasks in the Digital Asset Manager (DAM) to help search and organize your results. See Organize assets in Library overview.
January
Access artificial intelligence (AI) assistant Opal from the main navigation menu
Use Opal to answer questions about marketing plans, tasks, campaigns, and more. Your conversations are organized according to your location on the platform when you ask Opal your questions. For example, you can reopen a task to access the Opal conversation history from when you worked on that task. See Global header.
Auto-complete Work Requests
When you start a task from a work request and then complete it, the corresponding work request gets automatically marked as completed, and the requestor receives a notification. See Work requests.
Select assets to push to the library before task completion
Push assets to the library after completing a workflow step. Determine this in workflow settings. See Manage workflows. You can also toggle on Save to Library for a workflow step from within a task. See Content workspace.
