The Content Dashboard in the Content section of Optimizely Content Recommendations displays an overview of the number of Content Items, Topics, and Average Topic per Content Item. See Commonly used terms in Content Recommendations.
The Content dashboard helps you monitor the number of content items processed and ingested by Content Recommendations. Additionally, it also displays the number of topics extracted from these content items. You can use the data to optimize your content production and conduct real-time content auditing.
View data in the dashboard
You can view the following data in the Content Dashboard:
- Filter – See Use dashboard filters.

Summary of data – View the summary of the following data:
- Content Items – The number of content items Content Recommendations processed within a specific time period.
- Unique Topics – The number of topics the system extracted from content items within a specific time period.
- Avg Topics per Content Item – The number of average topics in each content item.
- Line chart – View the line chart displaying the content imported over time. The Y-axis represents the number of content items processed by Content Recommendations, while the X-axis represents the time intervals, like dates, during which they were processed. Hovering your cursor anywhere on the plot line will display the value of each plot. You can view data for hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly periods.

Configure filters – Configure dashboard filters to evaluate the content repository and track how individual content items performed over time. You can select between the following filters to manipulate the data in the line chart and the tables:
- All Interactions – Filter the entire dashboard by selecting a filter from the drop-down list. The data inside the data tables also changes when you set a filter to reflect the filter's values.
- Show Content Imported Between...(time period) – Choose a time period for which you want to see the content imported. Expand the drop-down list and choose between the specific time periods or set a custom time period from the date picker. Click Apply.

Compare – Click to compare the data to a previous period in which the content items were imported. You can view the results in the graph and the tables.
- The dotted line in the graph displays Content Imported in Previous Period. You can follow it to see whether more or less content items were imported.
- The downward and upward arrows in the data tables, like a 37.59% decrease in Unique Topics or a 47.99% decrease in Avg Topics per Content Item, indicate the difference in values.
- Share this view – Click to share the filtered view with other members of your organization. See Configure Content Recommendations settings.
Data tables in the content dashboard
You can view the following data tables in the Content dashboard:

Topics – Displays the most frequently used topics, alongside the number of content items covering them, sorted in ascending order. You can perform the following actions inside the table:
- Click Top Topics to view the top-performing topics
- Click +View More to see the detailed list of topics
- Use the More (...) filter option to update the line chart and data tables for a selected topic only
- Click Download to download the list of topics in a CSV format
- Sources – Displays the number of content items processed from a source (a website or an RSS feed), like www.optimizely.com, sorted in an ascending order. You can perform similar actions as in the Topics data table.
- Sections – Displays content item categories, by number of items in each section, sorted in an ascending order.

The following scenarios outline how a content editor, creator, or website owner can use the Content Dashboard to perform various actions. In each scenario, you can identify the most published topics and track how content volume shifts over time to uncover trends and design your content strategy.

- See frequently mentioned topics alongside a specific topic of interest
- Concentrate on delivering more targeted, high-value material and minimizing unnecessary content
- Group content clearly and concisely to increase user engagement
- See which topics are extracted from a given content item
