Integrate Facebook Segment Sync

Sync Optimizely Data Platform (ODP) standard segments to Facebook for use in audience targeting on the desktop news feed, Instagram, and the Facebook Audience Network. This provides an opportunity to reach your customers with promotions outside of emails.

The customer data syncs daily from ODP to Facebook.

Configure Facebook

Traditional accounts (Non-Business Manager)

  1. Sign in to your Facebook account and locate the correct account ID by clicking Manage Ads. Currently, you can only sync one Facebook account to an ODP account.

  2. Go to Data Setup > Integrations > Facebook in ODP.
  3. Enter the Account ID in the Ad Account ID field.
  4. Click Authorize and accept the Facebook authentication.
  5. Toggle the Inactive option to Active.

If you have not used custom audiences yet, you need to accept the Facebook Terms of Service. Follow the link shown here, adding your Facebook ad account ID after act=.

You must accept these terms of service with the Facebook account that is integrated with ODP.

Accounts managed with Business Manager

  1. Ensure you are using the Facebook account that is linked to your active Business Manager account.
  2. Log in to the Facebook Business Manager.
  3. Go to Business Settings > Ad Accounts.
  4. Select the account that you want to sync with ODP.
  5. Copy the ad account number that displays.

  6. In ODP, go to Account Settings > Integrations > Facebook.
  7. Place the Account ID into the Ad Account ID field.
  8. Click Authorize and accept the Facebook authentication.
  9. Toggle the Inactive option to Active

Your segment must have at least 20 individual email addresses to target an audience on Facebook.

Sync specific standard segments

Determine which segments to sync to Facebook by selecting the segment in ODP and enabling Facebook.

Select the Enable Lookalike checkbox if you want Facebook to find additional customers who have similar attributes to the people who are in that base segment. This feature uses the Facebook lookalike setting Greater Reach (top 5% of people in the selected country that are similar to the seed Custom Audience). All lookalike audiences are set to model against United States Facebook users.

This integration sends hashed email addresses to Facebook, which they use to create a customer list.
