To create a language, a user must be an Optimizely Configured Commerce administrator.
- In the Admin Console, go to Administration > Languages.
- Click + Language.
- Complete the following fields with the information relevant to the language you are creating:
-
Language Code – (Required) The ISO 639-1 code for the country and the culture. For example, Spanish for Mexico is "es-mx".
This code populates the hreflang attribute for URLs so that search engines can identify the language on a page and serve relevant language results to users searching in that language.
- Description – (Required) A short descriptive name of the language.
- Culture Code – The language culture name. Typically, you can leave this field blank, as the scenario for its use is rare. For example, en-US is English in the United States and fr-MC is French in Monaco. You can find a full list of these language culture names on Wikipedia.org, Microsoft.com, or iso.org for a small fee.
- Image File Path – URL for image file to represent language (commonly used for flag images). The maximum size for this image is 16x16 pixels.
-
Alternate Languages – Additional alternate language codes. Must be a comma-separated list.
- If you need this field and is not visible, you can expose it using the Application Dictionary.
- Default System Language – Toggle to Yes to set this language as the default for the Configured Commerce application. This is used as the "from" language for machine translations using a translation service. You should set English (EN) as the default.
- Has Device Specific Content – Toggle to Yes to create device-specific (Desktop, Tablet, or Mobile) content for the specified language.
- Has Persona Specific Content – Toggle to Yes to create persona-specific content for the specified language.
- Has Customer Segment Specific Content – Toggle to Yes to create customer segment-specific content for the specified language.
- Currency Positioning – Select Left or Right to determine which side of the currency symbol the price displays.
