Welcome's platform allows ways to work with URLs in tasks to support use cases:
- You have a file on your Google Drive that you want to add to tasks so users with access can preview from the task.
- You have a Google Doc, Spreadsheet, or Presentation to associate with the task for users to preview and edit from a task.
- You have a website that requires changes so you want to annotate a version of the website to instruct your web team about what needs to change.
A site that is gated or behind a firewall is not supported.
- Files (that you have permissions to) stored in Google Drive
- Google Suite files (that you have permissions to) such as Docs, Slides and Sheets
- Figma and Figjam files
- Milanote files
Files in external systems without a permission-based or public link access to them are not supported. This includes Dropbox files, Jira boards, and any gated file types not declared in the supported file types list above.
An unsupported file type is considered a URL for proofing and tries to browse and annotate the page, if the URL is a correct www link.
Add content to your tasks via URL
Add files, such as Google Docs, to a task by supplying it's URL when adding content.
- In a task, select Content tab > Add Content > Add URL.
- Enter the full URL.
- After you add a file to the task you can preview in the window and can launch the file in a new tab by clicking of the option.
Proof a website
You can proof publicly accessible websites and pages to view and navigate sites in Mobile, Tablet, and Desktop modes, and make annotations to areas of pages to provide instruction or feedback to your team to make changes to those pages.
This can include websites and microsites, email view in browser links, and any other publicly accessible web page.
Select your URL and click Proofing (icon).
This launched the website proofing screen.
- Click the title in the proofing bar to open the URL in a new browser tab.
- Select viewing the site in Desktop, Tablet, or Mobile views.
- Toggle between Browse and Comment views.
- Browse – Interact with the site as if you were visiting the page. You can click links and use back, forward, and refresh page behaviors.
- Comment – Add an annotation to a page. Click on the area of the page and enter a comment (@mentioning and file uploads are permitted). Comments are displayed in the right hand panel, with the viewport detail of which view (Desktop, Tablet, or Mobile) was in use when the comment was made. Clicking comment in the panel takes you to the viewport and page the comment was made in and highlight the annotation mark on the page.
