In February 2024, Gmail and Yahoo introduced new email sender requirements to enhance deliverability scores and safeguard customers from spam. See Google's documentation for their enforcement timeline.
Impact on ODP campaigns
This change impacts you if you use Optimizely Data Platform (ODP) for sending email campaigns to Gmail and Yahoo recipients.
To verify if you send email campaigns, complete the following:
- Go to Activations > Overview.
- Select Channel > Email in the filters.
You must adhere to the following requirements to ensure that your ODP email campaigns continue to be sent by ODP:
- You must include Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance (DMARC) in your sending domain.
Google's email sender guidelines include information like how to add a DMARC record. For information on DMARC records, see MX Toolbox's documentation.
- You must align the from address domain with your sending domain.
- ODP sender profiles automatically align your from domain with your sender domain, so if you are using ODP to send marketing messages, you meet this requirement.
- Your marketing emails must provide a way for customers to unsubscribe in one step.
- To meet this requirement, ODP selects the Enable One-Click Unsubscribe header by default for all non-transactional email campaigns. You can deselect this checkbox to remove this option, but Google and Yahoo might flag your email campaigns as spam.
- You must include an unsubscribe link in your message body, but the link does not have to be one-click.
- ODP best practices recommend that you include an unsubscribe link in the email body for each messaging identifier you collect in a marketing email, so you meet this requirement.
- You must keep spam rates under 0.30%.
