The Competitor PageSpeed Analysis agent in Optimizely Opal runs a Google Lighthouse audit for your page and a competitor's, then delivers a side-by-side gap analysis with prioritized recommendations. The analysis shows where you are falling behind and what to fix first.

Install the Competitor PageSpeed Analysis agent

Opal Administrators, Agent Builders, and users with the Add, edit, and install specialized agents  attribute for a custom role can add agents to their organization's Optimizely Opal instance. See Add users and set permissions.

To install the Competitor PageSpeed Analysis agent in Opal, complete the following steps:

  1. Go to Agents > Agent Directory.

  2. Select Competitor PageSpeed Analysis.

  3. Click Install Agent to add it to your instance.

Use the Competitor PageSpeed Analysis agent

Run the Competitor PageSpeed Analysis agent in Opal Chat to benchmark your page's performance against a competitor's and receive a prioritized list of recommendations. Add the agent to a workflow for automated analysis.

In Opal Chat, enter @competitor_pagespeed_analysis and provide the following details:

  • Your Page URL – The URL of your page to analyze.
  • Competitor Page URL – The URL of the competitor page to compare.
  • (Optional) Additional Details – Any specific metrics of concern or competitive context.

To use the Competitor PageSpeed Analysis agent in a workflow agent, add it to your workflow. For instructions, see Configure workflow agents.

Default agent configuration

The Competitor PageSpeed Analysis agent uses the following default configuration. After you install the agent in your Opal instance, customize these details based on your organization's needs. See Manage agents for instructions.
